Part 3: The Storyboards
|
Once the text was finalized, Dav created “storyboard” drawings to help guide him in the creation of the artwork. “Storyboards” are a series of very small, quick sketches that help an illustrator design a book. The sketches are often sloppy. Sometimes they just look like a bunch of lines and squiggles. See below.

Storyboard sketches are probably the most important part of creating a picture book, because they give an illustrator a great idea of what to draw, where to put the text, and how big to make the pictures.
