Part 1: The Idea
|
The idea for The Hallo-Wiener came from a dog named Oscar, who belongs to one of Dav’s friends. Dav also has a wiener dog of his own (her name is “Little Dog”), and he thought it might be fun to paint a whole book about these sweet and loyal creatures. “Halloween” seemed like a great theme for the book, because of the obvious play on words (Halloween... Hallo-Wiener).
So Dav began drawing lots of sketches of wiener dogs… and other kinds of dogs, too.
Soon these silly characters began taking on a life of their own.
