Part 3: The Sketch Dummy
Usually, the next stage in making a picture book is the creation of a “dummy” (which is basically a larger, more detailed set of storyboards). Dav wanted the dummy for this book to be very impressive, so he first made a sketch dummy before he made a final dummy. Below are two pages from the sketch dummy.

Generally, a sketch dummy is all that is necessary when submitting a book idea to a publisher. But Dav did not have a publisher for this book yet, and he felt he needed to “WOW” whomever he sent it to. So, using this sketch dummy, he created a much more elaborate “final dummy”.
