Part 2: The Text
It took me only about fifteen minutes to write When Cats Dream. After I finished writing it, I spent about an hour reading and editing it. I changed some things, took out a few lines, and sketched some pictures for the illustrations.

In my text, I had accidentally mistyped the words “soft, warm”. It came out looking like “softwarm”. But I liked the way it looked (it seemed “dreamlike” to me), so I left it in the final book that way.

When I was writing about the dream world, I tried to use real images from my own strange and silly dreams... like flying... swimming with the fishes… and losing my socks in the sea. Often, the best way to get ideas is to think about things that you’ve actually experienced.
