How do you feel about winning a Disney Adventures Kids Choice Award? |
I feel vindicated! The award came at a good time for me, because some
adults at a school in Connecticut recently banned the Captain Underpants
books. It's nice to know that kids still have a sense of humor! |
Could you tell us a little-known fact about your book? |
It's a "Scratch-N-Sniff" book. If you scratch the pages, they smell
just like paper! |
Where did you learn to draw? |
Ohio. |
How long do you spend writing/drawing each day? |
Usually between one and five hours a day. |
Do you have any writing rituals or good-luck charms? |
I paint with my dog on my lap. She's my good luck charm, she keeps
me warm, and her fur soaks up all those annoying paint spills. |
What was your favorite book when you were 10? |
Does "Mad Magazine" count as a book? |
Do you munch on snacks when you're writing? |
Yep. I'm a fool for chocolate chip cookies. |
When you were writing this book, did you ever consider who you'd want
to play the characters if it was made into a movie? |
I had always envisioned Chris Farley as Captain Underpants, but alas, he
didn't live long enough. |
Do you wear boxers or all that is Preshrunk and Cottony? |
Actually, I wear boxer/briefs. They're the best of both worlds. |
Do you have any well-wishes for Disney Adventures on its upcoming 10th
anniversary? |
Yes: Keep up the good work, and who knows? ...maybe someday the
word "Disney" will become a household name. |
