In this story, George, Harold, Sulu, and Crackers accidentally end up in an alternate universe where
the whole world is the opposite of their normal world. Good is bad, smart is dumb, and heroes are villains.

off against his horrible evil twin, the terrifying Captain Blunderpants.

HOW will mankind survive when Captain Underpants LOSES his super powers? And who the heck is
"Boxer Boy" and "Great Granny Girdle"???

The first sketch was made with a black, fine-point ink pen.
This sketch took Dav about twenty minutes to draw.

The second sketch was re-drawn using the same fine-point ink pen.
In this sketch, small changes and adjustments were made.
This sketch was scanned into Dav's computer, and the title was added
digitally using Photoshop. This whole process took about an hour.
Dav traced the second sketch onto thick, acid-free paper using a light table and
a #2 pencil. This sketch took about fifteen minutes to trace.
The pencil drawing was filled in using India ink and black acrylic paint (mixed
together). This black line art took Dav about an hour to paint.
The black line art was then filled in with acrylic paints until it looked like this.
This final painting was scanned into Dav's computer using an Epson scanner. The whole process took
about four hours.
The title and all of the remaining colors were added digitally in Photoshop.
Many small adjustments were also made to the sizing and placements of characters
and objects. This digital image took Dav about ten hours to complete.
Finally, all of the text was added digitally, and the cover was finished.

November 24, 2002:
Dav Pilkey finishes the manuscript for Ricky Ricotta's Mighty Robot VS. the Stupid Stinkbugs from Saturn. In this epic adventure, Ricky and his Mighty Robot must save the world from an army of stinky litterbugs, who have come to Earth to junk the place up. The evil Sergeant Stingbug has plenty of tricks up his slimy sleeve, including a plan that could stop the Mighty Robot once and for all. Can Ricky save the day? He might need some help from his cousin Lucy and her pet Jurassic Jackrabbits if he's going to stop those stinkers!
March 27, 2003: Martin Ontiveros finishes the interior artwork for the book. For a sneak-preview, check out these sketches and drawings from Martin!
Captain Underpants and the Big, Bad Battle of the Bionic Booger Boy, Parts 1 and 2
Coming in the Fall of 2003.
Right now, Dav Pilkey is hard at work on TWO new Captain Underpants epic novels. Here's the scoop:
September 27, 2002: Dav finishes the first draft of Captain Underpants and the Big, Bad Battle of the Bionic Booger Boy, Part 1. In this epic tale, George and Harold must save the day once again when a messy prank sets off a chain-reaction which could ultimately enslave all of humankind. Watch for Melvin Sneedley (from Attack of the Talking Toilets) to return as the nerdy super-genius whose hunger for for vengeance gets him into a snotty situation!
October 30, 2002: Dav finishes first draft of Captain Underpants and the Big, Bad Battle of the Bionic Booger Boy, Part 2: The Revenge of the Ravenous Robo-Boogers. This story picks up where the cliffhanger at the end of the last novel left off. The Bionic Booger Boy may have met his match, but the Robo-Boogers are still on the loose. It's a monster mashin', robo-wranglin', time travelin', brain-switchin', nose-pickin' good time! It's SNOT funny!
November 13, 2002: Dav begins designing creatures and sketching the "dummy" for the 6th Captain Underpants Epic Novel. Check out some of his designs below!
December 31, 2002: Dav finishes painting the covers for both books. Click below to see sketches and finished paintings for the new books.
January 1st, 2003: Dav starts final art for the interior of book #6.
March 1st, 2003: Dav finishes interior art for book #6. Click below to see some pencil sketches and art from the new story!
March 2nd, 2003: Dav starts final art for the interior of book #7.
May 1st, 2003: Dav's deadline for turning in the interior artwork for book #7 comes and goes.
Dav calls editor and makes up phony excuses for why his artwork is late (he blames society; the liberal media).
May 6th, 2003: Dav FINALLY finishes all interior artwork for book #7. Hooray!
